«Ce qui est prévu n’arrive jamais », prévient Xavier Guilhou. Au sein de XAG Conseil, il fait du pilotage de crise à destination des décideurs du monde de l’entreprise et de la politique. Depuis la chute du Mur de ­Berlin, ce « crisologue » a conseillé une ­multitude de dirigeants déstabilisés par l’imprévisible : « Dans ces situations, les schémas mentaux ne sont pas souvent en phase avec le réel ». Un phénomène récurrent : « Après Fukushima, j’ai travaillé avec des nucléocrates français qui raisonnaient en termes techniques. Ils étaient bunkerisés dans leur représentation mentale ».

La difficulté avec la crise économique actuelle ? C’est paradoxalement sa faiblesse, affirme Xavier Guilhou : « Une crise molle qui dure et qui change de nature, c’est plus difficile à surmonter ». Les décideurs sont toujours tentés de croire que la crise affecte les autres : crise du pétrole, de ­l’immobilier ou des banques. Mais elle remet en cause tout le monde. « Je fais un métier de toubib : des faits, un diagnostic et des modes d’action. » Une médecine mentale.
