Le 16 mars 1978, l’Amoco Cadiz se déchire sur les hauts-fonds rocheux, devant Ploudalmézeau. Plus de 200 000 tonnes de pétrole, portées par les marées, engluent le littoral, du Conquet jusqu’à l’île de Bréhat. Quatorze ans plus tard, les 90 communes victimes de la marée noire du siècle gagnent àChicago le combat juridique à haut risque qu’elles ont engagé contre la multinationale pétrolière américaine. La ténacité des élus locaux, leur solidarité exemplaire au-delà des clivages partisans, leur volonté d’obtenir réparation illustrent à merveille l’esprit de résistance qui survit en Bretagne. A travers ce procès exemplaire, ceux qui pensaient n’avoir souillé que les côtes d’un pays ont compris, à leur dépens, qu’ils en avaient touché le cœur.
