Avec complaisance, l’opinion occidentale s’était comme repliée ces dernières décennies dans une “niche” bien en retrait : celle du risque zéro.

Peut-être d’ailleurs cette doctrine aura-t-elle marqué ce moment étrange de la chute du mur de Berlin, qui nous laissait face à un grand vide. Pourtant, une série d’événements graves (Tchernobyl, Rwanda, vache folle, 11 septembre, Toulouse…) et des avenirs incertains ont sonné le retour de l’Histoire. Ce phénomène récurrent se retrouve en permanence dans les grands débats d’idées depuis des siècles. Loin de nous paralyser, le désarroi ressenti doit être fécond en initiatives et en transformations positives. C’est ici l’objet de notre contribution.

Ce livre est un cri. Il est né de la volonté d’éclairer avec courage nos contemporains sur des turbulences de grande échelle qui dépassent souvent notre entendement. Ce texte conjugue deux cheminements, celui sur les crises internationales avec Xavier Guilhou et celui sur les crises technologiques avec Patrick Lagadec. Leur message est clair : il faut faire émerger de nouvelles logiques de vie et de développement durable. Entre arrogance et indolence, saurons-nous remettre en question l’intangibilité de nos frontières mentales et géographiques ?
